Welcome aboard to High School Heroes!

The High School Heroes program, sponsored by Junior Achievement (JA), is back at Smithtown High School West for the 2015 - 2016 school year.

The New York State High School Heroes Program was initiated in the spring of 2000. It was designed to give outer borough elementary school students access to both Junior Achievement of New York’s (JANY) programs and to high school role models from their own communities.

In the Smithtown Central School District, HSW students will experience this program by being a teacher, in one of the district's elementary schools, under the guidance and supervision of a regular classroom teacher. Participants will experience the program, "JA for a Day. " This program is designed to give students who have an interest in the field education the unique opportunity to teach lessons for a full day. Students will develop, prepare and teach lessons for 5 different subjects.

High School Heroes at HSW is run by Mr. Elsesser. All program updates and information will be posted on this blog as available so feel free to use it as your official program resource.
